Floral Walk
The High School pupils came up trumps just prior to the summer holidays with a slick professional copy of our floral walk brochure. Copies were distributed through the tourist information offices in Wetherby and Harrogate as well as the Ramada Jarvis and Swan Guest House. We will be printing new copies of the brochure later this year. Watch this space for details.
Waterers Wanted Our area is in the fortunate position of not experiencing drought and we are therefore formulating our plans for the usual Summer watering of containers and hanging baskets. We rely totally on our volunteers and during April Ray and Margaret Dabell will begin to draft the rota which commences in June and runs to mid September. We do hope that last years volunteers will continue to help and send out a plea for a few more people to fill in the gaps! Once a month is the usual requirement - so four times during the Summer. Full training and support will be given. Please contact Ray and Margaret on 581234 if you would like to join us. There will be practice sessions and updates on the routes at the end of May and everyone will be informed of the precise timings of these. |
Successful AGM
At the 2012 AGM (Feb 13th) the existing officers and committee were once again re-elected. Additional committee members are still welcome and can be co-opted onto the committee should anyone wish to join us. It was also announced that our efforts this year would be concentrated on the Jubilee celebrations rather than participating in the Yorkshire in Bloom competition and we look forward to another ''blooming'' year in Wetherby.
Dates for the Diary
Saturday 5th May Tea Dance in the Scout and Guide Building in Church Street.
Saturday 14th July coffee morning in the Scout and Guide Building in Church Street.
Thanks to Everyone
We could not maintain our displays without the reliable watering teams who once again turned out each evening last year to keep everything going. Our thanks to them and our key holders, the Black Bull and Esso Station, who provide invaluable assistance.
Our grateful thanks must also go to the sponsors of planters and vehicles, all those involved in fund raising and of course our 'Friends'. With such support we will continue to do our best for the town, its residents and visitors alike.
