Sunday November 5th saw Church Street brushed and weeded, River Garth down to the river tied up and the Privas bed at the main roundabout emptied.

In October the planters around town have been emptied and replanted with the winter bedding.

Sunday 1st October most of the hanging baskets were taken down and composted.  Planters will be emptied and replanted with winter bedding plants.

Floral Walk UPDATED JUNE 2023

In the summer, with the hanging baskets installed and containers and other areas of the town planted up,  our town looks magnificent with all the colourful displays.  It is worthwhile downloading a copy of our Floral Walk leaflet or obtain a hard copy from Wetherby Library on Westgate, or various cafes around the town.  The Walk starts off from the Cluster of Nuts car park and takes about one hour, taking you to some interesting places in town which you would not necessarily normally visit.

Sunday 4th / Monday evening 5th June all the Summer Baskets were put up around town!

Monday 20th March the Spring Baskets were put up in the Shambles and on the Pergola.

TWELFTH NIGHT + 1 (7 January 2023) - a few WIB volunteers joined forces with the Wetherby Christmas Lights Team to help 'undress' the 200 Christmas trees. This was completed in record time and over the next few days the LED tree lights and the other festive illuminations will be tested, before being stored ready for next Christmas (it all starts again November 2023!)

Wetherby in Bloom Project morning 6th November 2022

One of the Horsefair planters (opposite M&S) was replaced with a new plastic planter.  First the old metal planter had to be dug out and emptied and the small amelanchier tree removed before being replanted in the new planter.  Other volunteers trimmed the shrubs in the bed opposite.

Wetherby in Bloom Project morning 9th October 2022

Volunteers met on the Wharfe Bridge on the A168 to remove the shrubs in the containers on the bridge.  Most of the shrubs were past their best and they were replaced with new ones.

26th August 2022 - Yorkshire Water Hosepipe Ban

NOTICE REGARDING WATERING

Following three challenging months when volunteers pulled out all the stops to keep the hanging baskets and planters looking superb, we were faced with imminent restrictions on water usage.

The Committee decided to curtail the watering activities by removing some high-level hanging baskets at the end of August, but to continue watering with cans the various other displays.   The remaining easily accessible hanging baskets were removed late September.

Thank you to all our volunteers and supporters during 2022 season.

Platinum Jubilee Coffee Morning 2nd June 2022

The WIB Volunteers would like to thank all those who supported our coffee morning, in aid of the Martin House Flower Fund. We were amazed at the generosity shown.  Many thanks again.
