SUMMER IS OVER!!
The nights are cutting in making it difficult for our volunteers to continue watering the hanging baskets and they have all been taken down (22/23 September). ALL THE CONTENTS OF THE BASKETS ARE COMPOSTED!
If you have enjoyed seeing the baskets around town this year, please think about helping us next year, especially with the watering. Our volunteers are not getting any younger and it would be really good to have some younger members of the community offering assistance. Please ring Wetherby in Bloom on 01937 581234.
A small group of committee members tidied up the seating area overlooking the river at the bottom of the access slope from near Save the Children and ASK.
PLEASE NOTE THAT IF WE DO NOT GET MORE VOLUNTEERS, WHAT WE ARE ABLE TO DO FOR THE TOWN WILL HAVE TO BE SCALED BACK.
For further details about helping by volunteering, please contact Margaret Dabell (01937 581234) margaret.dabell@ntlworld.com)
JUNE 2024 - WETHERBY IN BLOOM NEEDS YOU - the summer baskets have been put up around town. If you can spare one evening a month from June to September to help keep the baskets and planters watered with our famous electric milk float or tractor, we would love to hear from you! It is a good opportunity to meet visitors and help enhance our lovely town!
Please ring Wetherby in Bloom on 01937 581234.
In the summer, with the hanging baskets installed and containers and other areas of the town planted up, our town looks magnificent with all the colourful displays. It is worthwhile downloading a copy of our Floral Walk leaflet or obtain a hard copy from Wetherby Library on Westgate, or various cafes around the town. The Walk starts off from the Cluster of Nuts car park and takes about one hour, taking you to some interesting places in town which you would not necessarily normally visit.
APRIL 2024
NEW PLANTERS
The two old planters opposite the library had served us well for many years but needed replacing. We received their replacements, which have been planted up with the summer bedding. The one of the old planters has been re-sited at Wetherby Bus Station after a lick of paint
MARCH 2024 Volunteers are back at the Riverside car park on Tuesday mornings. Spring is well and truly on the way!
Sunday March 3rd saw the spring baskets being put up in the Shambles and on the Pergola. Spring is on the way!
Sunday November 5th saw Church Street brushed and weeded, River Garth down to the river tied up and the Privas bed at the main roundabout emptied.
In October the planters around town have been emptied and replanted with the winter bedding.
Sunday 1st October most of the hanging baskets were taken down and composted. Planters will be emptied and replanted with winter bedding plants.
